CASTING NETS EXHIBITION

Images of weavings, nets and networks, ever expansive pints of connections, micro and macro cosmologies. Both Christian and Islamic narratives inform the 21 works in this exhibition. This diverse body of work ranging from, works on paper, floor sculpture, wall installation, books and works on canvas. This work is about the many points that connect us and the expansive possibilities of more.

Callis’s painting often get their signifying power in relation to each other. They work like a net, woven together like the patterns of the Moroccan rug that lays flat on a floor or on a wall, its pattern catching the eye directing the eye past the meaning of that catch. Someone is telling us something, this body of work seems to say, Listen to it.
